Amazon is going to buy zappos.com, which means the empire of Amazon is expanding in area of apparel. This is the biggest acquisition ever happened in the history of Amazon (involved $807million in stock and $40million in cash) .This act will make Amazon more competitive in area of online apparel. Amazon’s sales range online is every huge but it also has its weak parts, apparel is concerned to be one of them. Let’s take handbags as an example , the sale of handbags on Amazon.com is not so satisfied as other goods, while on zappos.com , handbags is one of the most profitable products. By committing this acquisition, Amazon combines the customers of the two websites, the sale and profit of the entire apparel field, not only handbags, will be largely promoted. As for zappos, the acquisition is quite sensible. For one thing, the condition Amazon offer is quite satisfactory and what’s more important, Zappos itself is facing problems, one of them is that the sale of the website is valid and it’s hard for them to expand any more. Only by this way can they keep the money in their pocket stay increasing.
