Why Does Obama Accord with Nobel Peace Prize Criteria?

Everybody is expecting the birth of the winner of 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. When he was born, the result seems disappoint most of people. October 9, 2009, AP announced that President Barack Obama is this year's recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Obama won the award because of his progressive work towards bridging relationships between those in the Middle East and around the world.

The announcement comes as a surprise for those who believe that Obama has not been in office as president long enough to be considered. However, less than five US sitting presidents have been awarded the prize before and being a US president is not criteria for winning the award.

This reporter questions the criteria in awarding Obama when at the present moment, more US soldiers are being sent overseas for occupation and war in the Middle East in an increasingly unpopular response to stifling Taliban rule. Does Nobel Peace Prize Criteria only tend to great people that have the power to stop or start the war. Why not give more chances to other common people such as environmentalists. When I heard that Obama won the prize, a crazy idea occurred to me: did Obama win the prize because he had not enough time to spur another war?
